Has it got to do with the male/female mindset?
Yes , We all are different, and unique beings created by God.

I think the point is more the latter than the former.
There's no "male/female mindset" per se.
The gender hormones don't play much of a role in kindergarden age, it's only about gender roles.
And gender roles are a matter of education. You can educate a girl to behave like a boy or the other way around - I know more than a couple cases where this happened. The girls like to pick fights, play cars - and the boys love dolls and playing family. Those gender roles can last a lifetime, but usually hormones are stronger and will "set things into order", even though it will cause tremendous adjustment trouble.

So, I doubt unless you want to raise your boy to be the "tough guy who domineers the world", it's not about gender roles but simply about his unique personality.
