Half the time, no one even knows who will compete in New Jersey. The girls come to pageant weekend and they aren't prepared. They look a mess at practice, they pick gowns that they wore to their prom, they don't know how to walk, they aren't in shape, it's ridiculous. If New Jersey ever wants to be looked at as a contender at Miss USA, the competition needs to get with it. The girls they end up picking are contenders at Miss USA, but each year, there is like 15 girls who are actually serious about the state pageant. Please, if you read this and you are competing, Step it up! When you look at other states like Texas, Louisiana, Florida, North Carolina, south Carolina - those girls compete. They come with their A game, like they are going to Miss USA. Girls in NJ just come. They don't bring it like other states. If you are competing and you don't know how to walk on the stage, learn. Find a walking coach, find a fitness trainer, find an interview coach. Don't come to the state pageant unprepared thinking you will win. Don't wear your slippers and pajamas to practice - come to practice ready to psyche out your competition, wear something stylish. If you compete next year, go to a photographer and get a real head shot, stop sending these photos that your grandma took. Get serious about this competition. If this were miss Texas or Miss USA, half of these girls would get laughed off the stage. Please, Come with it!
