.. male was seated on one of the stone benches, legs crossed as he watched the plants grow and the flowers bloom in quiet contemplation. it was that time of the year again, that date once more. head lowered itself slightly, eyes closing as one tried desperately hard to cling to composure - and succeeded. why? because he always succeeded.
gaze rose once more to watch the garden in silence, having distanced himself from the household for his day. ..

Alina approached slowly. She had to ask him, it had been driving her crazy for weeks. With her head bent, she came up to his side. She waited to be spoken to.

She kept her head bowed, “Sir, I found something on the far edges of the property. I was repairing fences there, sir.” She decided it was best to add why she was out there, he didn’t seem happy. She was regretting saying anything at all. The beating she had recently received from him was still fresh in her mind. Her neck had a phantom ache to it. This wasn’t good.

.. aura bristles slightly, black gaze which was squarely on her narrowing. "Who told you to do that?" certainly he couldn't have been that absent minded, but... "Go on." maybe he was over-reacting. it couldn't possibly be what he feared. the little one wasn't that intelligent or nosy... right? ..

She was jumpy, “The orders came down from you, sir.” Now she was scared, very scared. It was simply what she had been told to do. “It was actually over a week ago, sir. It’s just been bothering me. I do apologize, my Lord.”

.. he gripped one hand with the other, his own joints making grinding noises before snapping from the pressure he applied on them. he had successfully crushed his own hand, not that he really seemed to notice. She took a step back, fear more prominent than breath. “I felt something, sir. I’m very sorry, sir. But it’s been bothering me, sir. It’s like I had a connection with the grave, sir.” She was praying he wasn’t overstepping any boundaries. She was praying he wouldn’t beat her for this. But she had to know…
