 副總理吳儀以國內急務為理由取消與日本首相小泉純一郎會面，提早一天回國，引起外界諸多猜測和日方的不滿。

路透社稱，這次取消會面在外交上甚為罕見，但事實上，吳儀是在周二到蒙古訪問，日本官員深表不滿，有外務省官員更要求中方解釋。

一名日本外務省官員說，中國總理安排今次會面，而中方臨時取消會面，原因也是不清不楚，中國有需要解釋。這不符合外交禮節和慣例，事件也與近日針對日本使領館的流氓行徑類同。


中國外交部的聲明稱，由於吳儀因為要趕返國處理緊急事務，要取消原定今日下午與小泉的會面，提早一天結束在日本的訪問行程，在今日下午回國。但蒙古外交部證實，吳儀將會如期在周二到訪。

對於中國副總理吳儀突然取消與日本首相小泉純一郎會面，提前返國，日本駐北京大使館官員表示遺憾。報道引述日本在北京的相關人士認為，吳儀取消見小泉，可能與小泉日前宣布將再參拜靖國神社有關。

日本首小泉純一郎則表示，不知道中方取消會議的原因。被問及今次取消會面，會否對兩國關係造成影響，小泉表示，若中方不希望會面，便沒有必要會面。
