如果局住要答，可先從明太祖的施政入手，例如對士風的摧殘、以八股取士拑制思想等等，導致政治的腐敗、學術思想的萎靡，再越積推展到軍事、經濟等範疇。而清朝很大程度承襲明制，積弊越積越深，諸如此類，一波接一波地影響下去。
如不同意，則需羅列近因，如清統治的缺失，外患頻生，強調只是短期性的因素。
切記，歷史是由許多錯縱複雜的原因互相影響，請勿執著於某一說法。
