If you are interested in teaching about American Indians in your classroom, buy a copy of the September National Geographic, which is now on your newstands.

Not only does it have a great cover story about Global Warming, but it has a wonderful update on American Indian nations and culture written by Abenaki author Joe Bruchac, who wrote The Black Squirrel for NIE newspaper use a few years ago.

It also includes a large, beautiful pull-out map on American Indian tribes strewn with many useful facts.

National Geographic did a great job. I highly recommend this issue. It's a keeper. I'm buying a dozen extra copies for my students at South Dakota State University
