Quanto ao seu pessimismo, deixe-o de lado, porque conhe�o pessoas que aprenderam Ingl�s na escola regular e p�blica, com esfor�o complementar fora da sala de aula, naturalmente, mas sem freq�entar cursos livres desse idioma (um argumento poss�vel � que esses resultados constituem exce��o). N�o me lembro, todavia, de ter lido qualquer narrativa que afirme isso no texto de PAIVA (2004), nem uma refer�ncia a bibliografia sobre esse assunto. Est� claro que seu texto afirma que �In the Brazilian context there is a strong BELIEF that foreign languages are not learned in high schools�, mas, j� que voc� encaminhou algumas perguntas a ela, permita-me acrescentar outra, que talvez voc� mesma ou outro(a) colega possa responder: existem estudos acad�micos comprovando isso?
