Acredito que depende muito do nível do aluno e de seu grau de autonomia. Se for o caso de um aluno avançado ele terá melhores condições de detectar seus erros, pois já tem uma visão mais global da língua, muitas de suas crenças e convicçõejá mudaram. Além disso, acrescenta-se aí uma boa dose de paciência e perseverança para as consultas às gramáticas, dicionários etc. Falando ainda em nível lingüistico, transcrevo aqui uma frase de Rubin(p.32) que ilustra minha fala:

"Other teachers report that certain strategies work better at intermediate or advanced levels but not with beginners(Varela). This may be because these strategies are effective only after a student has acquired a certain amount of second or foreign language knowledge."
