I can understand people in Ava and surrounding towns opposing the landfil.
What I have a hard time with is residents and landowners selling lots to unsuspecting people from out of state who purchase these lots without knowing about your landfil.

They are forced to pay taxes for lots with values higher than the property is worth and not being able to get them reappraised for the real value they are worth today because of the landfil.

We purchased a lot in the town of ava only to find out that not only can you not build a house on it but you are not able able to put anything on it because your neighbors have to approve anything that it would be used for. They will not even allow a garage to be built on the lot.
When we saw the signs that were posted in the area on peoples property it was to late for us to do anything about it.

However, I am happy that they have those signs posted so that other people from Out of State who travel through the seemingly beautiful area will not buy property only to be surprised like we were. Thank God people put those signs on their property to warn others.

I can understand your fight to stop the landfill, but isn't there a better way to go about it? Every time I travel the stretch from West Leyden to Boonville all the signs along the road drive me nuts! How about the dilapidated sign on the Veterans Memorial Park, "Don't Deface the park? What do you think this sign does? I have half a mind to hook a chain to it and rip it out of the ground. This in it's self is defacing. I do not know who gave the ok to place this sign there, but I'm sure it was not a Vet that is being honored with the park. Then you have signs that say "NO DUMP" everywhere, half of the houses that these signs in front of are themselves what I'd call dumps. It's a shame that everyone that drives down through there has to see this. I'm sure if a landfill was to be put in, it wouldn't look near as bad as what the residents have done to the area.

What would happen if the towns of Boonville and Ava were to secede from Oneida county and join Lewis county?
