"Leopards, Corbina, and one big Halibut"

I was out on the pier Sunday 11/23 to check out the new business on the pier Mo's www.EatAtMos.com

They were open for business serving food and drinks on the deck of the east side of the pier. Mo's rents one half of the building that used to be the kitchen for Alice's. Mo's is the first business to open on the pier. The tables, chairs, bar and benches are all brand new. The place has a nice clean look with a great view. The menu is reasonably priced PierView type items. Check it out! They will be open on weekends only to start out.

I hung out for a while to see if someone would catch anything on the pier. Not much going on. Clouds of bait all around the pier and everyone had live bait they snagged.

Myself and a few others were looking into the unusually clear water at the surf line. We saw schools of Corbina's and some larger solo fish cruising. Right below the pier in the shade was about 5 small Leopard Sharks hanging in very shallow water. Then out of now where a Halibut that I estimated at 28-32 inches swims right under the pier in knee deep water. We lost track of the big fish when it went under the pier. We never saw it again.

I can't wait till a we get a public sport fishing boat operating at the pier!

On a sad note it seems the State sold the servicing of the main pier parking lot to "Standard Parking". They were charging $5 right till dark. The parking employee told me the State annual parking passes will NOT be honored.

Frank
