Subject: Two Good Things to Watch

I saw a couple of notable things this week, a new TV program and a movie just released to DVD. I really liked both and wanted to mention them, because I think a lot of you would like them, too.

"The Riches" premiered last Monday on FX. In a device well represented by "The Sopranos" and "Big Love," it takes a group on the fringes of society and somehow elicits our sympathy for them. Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver star as a couple of Irish Traveller con artists who try to "steal the American Dream." There's a great ensemble cast and the writing is superb. Lots of sex, violence, and car chases, too. ;-) Mr. Lynx and I both give this one a big thumbs up.

"Stranger Than Fiction," which released to theatres last November, has just been released to DVD. It's a comedy/drama/fantasy starring Will Ferrell (who was deservedly nominated for a Golden Globe), Emma Thompson, Maggie Gyllenhall, Dustin Hoffman, and the guy who was Buster on "Arrested Development." It is simply the most intelligent movie I've seen in a while, and Mr. Lynx and I both loved it.

Some of you might want to give these a try.
