I don't get what you're saying. You're saying doctors prescribe the medications based on anecdotal evidence instead of clinical studies? If that's the case, it's not the medication that's at fault; it's the doctor's fault for not being certain that the right medication is prescribed for the right reasons.

It would be like if doctors were prescribing aspirin for a malfunctioning thyroid gland. That doesn't mean aspirin doesn't work for migraines, and it doesn't mean thyroid medication isn't effective in treating malfunctioning thyroid glands. But if somebody is taking aspirin for a headache and is experiencing positive results with no side effects, and somebody else is taking thyroid medication for a malfunctioning thyroid and is experiencing positive results with no side effects, why suggest that they change from what's working for them?
