I happen to understand your point and agree with you, EJ. I don't care if the man is gay or not, but as it's not part of the story-line, why does he need to be either homo or hetero? If she felt it was important to convey that being a homosexual is nothing to be ashamed about and that gay people lead normal productive lives, then why didn't she make it part of the story? I don't think that was her point.

That said, I have not read the books, so I don't know if she ever eluded to his sexual orientation or not. But if she never did and if it was not integral to the stories, I don't get why he needed to be one way or the other either.

She obviously had it in her mind that he was gay. Somebody asked her about it, she gave the honest answer. Frankly, I don't know why anybody would care that much about a fictional character's sex life to think to ask in the first place. That, to me, is the oddest part of this entire thing.
