I had no idea that this particular thing was done, but it did not surprise me. I am from OK, and I know how politics are done there, and in AR, and in TX, generally speaking, and it's never a pretty picture. I suggest you read a biography or two of LBJ. Some of the things he did to gather power would melt your eyebrows.
