I couldn't remember the other Senator from New York's name. I have no clue who she replaced. I suspect the vast majority of the country (and probably even large parts of New York) would be the same.

Also, the Senate is a relatively even playing field. Our bicameral legislature is set up so that each state has equal representation in the Senate. In fact, off the top of my head I could not name the Majority or Minority Leaders and they are from Nevada and Kentucky, respectively. I could, however, name a Senator from Idaho, Delaware and Arizona...
