Then it may have been an unnecessary move on their part, but it's always safer to err on the side of caution than risk offending a large group of people, especially if you're a large corporation and you're in America, where you can get sued for a lot of money.

If you're about to do something, and you don't know if it's going to offend somebody or not, you can't offend them by not doing it.
