I noticed that I've only got one pre-1980 comedy movie in my top 20: the Holy Grail (1975).

I try to appreciate older comedies, but the punchlines are just far too predictable for me. And I realize that's in part because newer jokes are often adapations of older ones. But it doesn't make the movies any more enjoyable. I appreciate comedy that deviates as far as possible from the norm. And one day, perhaps other people will dislike my favorite movies because others will have copied those writers who were original in my time.
