Subject: So, did anyone watch the Sopranos finale? (Spoilers within.)

I've just been reading some message boards on this topic, and people hated it by about 99 to 1. Mr. Lynx and I both thought that it was the best episode ever. David Chase, never one to pander to the expectations of his viewers, played us for the fools we are, and it was absolutely brilliant. What a show! What a series!

Beforehand, all of the speculation was that Tony would either get whacked or go into the Witness Protection Program, so we knew that neither of those things would happen (see above). Mr. Lynx came very close with his prediction that there would be a cliffhanger. Never has there been so much dramatic tension with so little payoff. lol. Not only did it end in the middle of a scene, it ended in the middle of a sentence. I love it.

Lots of great irony and humor in this one. The lives of Phil Leotardo's grandchildren are saved by the fact that his SUV runs over his lifeless head. Tony, visiting AJ's psychiatrist with Carmela, starts into a long monologue about his mother, as Carmela rolls her eyes. I loved the stray cat that kept staring at the photo of Christopher. And who ever thought that Paulie would be one of the few to make it to the very end relatively unscathed?

Best final scene ever.

Btw, did anyone watch John from Cincinnati afterward? Now there's a strange one. Intriguing, though.
