It wasn't a fade to black but a cut to black at the exact moment in time where Tony could have been whacked, could have been busted, or the F.B.I. steps in and saves him from being whacked even. Left you hanging with a heavy heartbeat. I thought it was a well done way to go out.. possibly borrowed from John Carpenters - Prince of Darkness.
