(As was his usual arrogant behavior, he shoved away his brothers view of his relationship with Bree, shaking his head.) A lass needs to ken that ye are well pleased with her, and that ye desire her day and night. (He said with a matter of fact tone, since Bree had voiced her fear to him the day before. He often took the little snippets of information she did bestow upon them and often gilded them into his behavior. She had said that she wanted to be desired by him and that she wanted to be the only one that he desired.. and well, he was letting Durgan know that he was accomplishing the goals that his mate had set before him. He was the type of male that felt pride in accomplishing things.. and when a goal was set before him he would strive to meet it and feel like he had served it well. He had met his goal of securing Bree as his mate, so naturally he had moved on to accomplishing the goal of securing a safe and comfortable home for her. That goal didn't include wooing his lass or doing all those little things that Durgan was talking about.. so he didn't think about them all that much. It wasn't that he consciouly neglected her, it was that he wasn't consciouly thinking that he had to make her happy by behaving like his whipped idiot brother. He yawned, covering his mouth with one wide hand.) She prefers the clearing, it is her sanctuary. (He said defensively, not willing to admit that Durgan was right - that he had created an environment for his mate that encouraged her to run away from him in time of need. He like to comfort himself with the delusion that she relied and depended on him and would come to him when she was upset. Even when faced with her behavior the day before he didnt admit it - she had gone to Durgan instead of to him. He looked over at Durgan, more than willing to jump on a change of topic, since this was getting dangerously close to him having no comebacks.) Aye, well, I dinna think the MacRae are stupid enough to send warriors here. Let them come if they are feeling so reckless.
