Subject: Question about using weights

I have a question...I just bought a new workout DVD and some 5 lb weights to go with it. I have never really been big on using weights before. I want to tone my arms and I know I might gain muscle weight, but will it be a lot of weight, if any? And if I stick to a diet and the cardio, I'll eventually lose weight after I gain muscle (assuming I do), right? Sorry if this doesn't make sense, but thanks anyways...Juls
