It has been medically proven that 65% of all people have trouble sleeping if they eat less then 600 cals a day. The reason for this is that dreaming (in the last sleep phases) costs more energy then just resting, your body then, being in starvation mode will not go there. If you can get asleep but have a problem staying asleep it could be a sugar dip, put some fruit next to your bed (preferably banana) and eat it.
