you guys both have good points, yes dan, sponsors did allow skaters to make a living, but as with every other thing that involes anything to do with humans, there became compotition, now ppl were (and still are) fighting to have skaters on their team and not on others so that they the companies can make more money themselves
and also brion brings up a good point too, most skaters (not all but some) are assholes to all other skaters (whether they think that they are better, have better sponsors, can make more money, or kick someones ass) they will hairy-ass other less talented skaters, calling them posers, although by my philosiphy, they themselves by harrasing and not accepting anothers style are posers.
