Thanks for your reply Anon.
I have never cared much for kenny Rogers, even in his 1st Edition days. He's alright but I wouldn't want to waste too much precious time with his records.
You must have forgotten that there are actually TWO former Beatles still alive. Their contribution to music and society is everlasting. It amazes me how many young people still discover the Beatles music and find it as fresh as it was when it was first released.
As for the Monkees, yes they were a contrived band for a tv show, but they had great musical and acting talent. Mike was already signed by CBS records and had released 2 albums, Peter was well known in the folk/rock circles and a good friend of Steven Stills. Both were proficient musicians and writers. Mickey had a phenominal voice, learned to play drums and wrote some brilliant songs. The Monkees played on and had full control of their 2nd, 3rd and 4th albums.
As for Hank, Im sure you are refering to Hank the 1st. I agree. Hank was a superior talent and his music was loved by the Beatles and Monkees.
You should consider starting a Kenny Rogers forum on voy.
