Eric Kraft is a former teacher and for a time made his living at various odd jobs such as editing school text books and other forms of free lance writing. With one of his early novels he won a prestigiuos award and felt that his career was assured. Not so. The special form of his work has prevented readers from a ready access to a remarkable body of work. Some of the problem is that his work appears to be humorous. It is certainly often funny and never pretentious but is comedy as in high comedy and apparently too rarified for the general reader. It is also a loosely grouped series the umbrella name for which is The Personal History, Adventures, Experiences and Observations of Peter Leroy. Peter is Kraft's alter ego. Thus to become immersed in Peter's world involves a large commitment of reading time. But for those who acquire a taste for him, he is a writer with an unusual vision and startling insights. His very entertaining website is at http://www.erickraft.com/markdorset/topicalguide/iamheis.html
and contains generous excerpts from his books.
