I have a question. I have the sims, on my computer... but the graphics are bad. You can see all the little pixel squares, and everything is visible.
On my dads laptop, the graphics are amazing. Everything is blended, and its so pretty and the make-up on the girls is nice. Everything is just faster, and prettier.
What should I do? I have windows XP I have a flatscreen. Everything in my computer system is fairly new.
Anyone got tips??

- it's probably your video card. Do you know how much video RAM you have, and whether or not it is shared video? Your Dad's laptop probably has more video memory than your compy. Sims2 is a seriously graphic-intensive game. (NT) --

Hey everyone! My name's Laura, I'm 15. I've had sims 2 since it first came out and i LOVE it. My favorite family is the one with me in it(hehe). So I guess I'll tell you a bit about my sim-life. lol.
Sims:
Sim Laura lived alone in a cozy house, and next door to her lived Phil(cas created sim). They became the best of friends, and that's exactly how I wanted it to be. But these 2 sims obviously had different ideas, and kept randomly kissing and hugging each other whenever I let them interact on their own. No matter how hard I tried to just keep them friends, they're relationship meter flew up and they were soon madly in love with each other. I figured since they couldn't keep their hands off each other, I may as well make them move in with one another. So Laura moved in next door,lol. A few days later, Phil proposed to Laura and with no hesitation, Laura said yes! About a week in sim-days later, a bouncing baby girl with blonde hair and bright blue eyes came into the sim-world. She was named Kaeli(pronounced Kaylie).Kaeli grew up into a beautiful toddler, and learnt how to walk,talk,and potty :P from her daddy, and she became daddy's little girl(I have some really cute pictures!). While Kaeli was a little one, Laura got pregnant and had a baby boy! Christopher :) Currently Kaeli is a beautiful child, and Christopher is a crazy little toddler. I haven't decided whether or not if they should have another baby, but Laura is going to be getting a job, and Phil is going to be the stay-at-home daddy(I wanted to mix it up a bit, and since Kae's such a daddy's girl I thought It'd be cute). And yeah, that's my sim family. I'll post about my second favorite family later(it's not as long ;) Sorry for taking up so much space!

Hey gurlies! Sorry havent been posting muchly. Well anyway I started to play the sims 2 again and made a new family called 'Grittles family' They're AWESOME! Well I made a woman..Jesse. And a man Nick. Then I decided I want to start out with two teenagers. So I made a very pretty blonde teenager, Julia. And then made a very cute guy teenager, John. They rock! I made Nick and Jesse start out married and made them in love more so Julia and John are deffinetly their's. So I made Nick and Jesse 'try for a baby' and made them all VERY close. Then I made Julia get a boyfriend. And she ended up having her very first kiss with a guy. And John is still searching Julia is a B+ student and John is a A student. Nick and Jesse are very close. But Jesse got pregnant and by far the worst pregnant woman EVER. OH MY GOSH! I make all her stats up while Im working on Nick, John, and Julia and they all go DOWN. She is very big and is so hard to take care of but has the cutest pregnant clothes she has pink pants, pink and white shoes and a white v-neck shirt. Since Julia just got her first kiss she is right now in the grey zone. Of course Jesse is being very hard and is 'broud brunger' and is in the redish zone. John is in the yellow zone and is 'hottie' yeah..dont ask. And then Nick is in the yelloww zone and is 'role model' before Jesse was pregnant she was 'solid provider'..YUP! And so Jesse should deliver and stay tuned,

Well, now it is time to show off my favourite family, the MacGregor family XD I actually have to update this now, because Adelaide & Robert have just become the parents of twin boys, named James and Caiber :D
Adelaide has the Family Aspiration, and she currently has platinum level, after just giving birth to the twins. Having two babies at once fulfulled her current goal, as you can well imagine! LOL!!
Robert has the Knowledge Aspiration. He's just gotten a job in the Science career, and that makes him pretty happy. His current goals are to see a ghost, achieve logic level 6 and be saved from death. XD
James and Caiber, the twins, are still newborns, so their only goal right now is to grow up. aaww... XD

I have got a new family, the Sweets. I play with them the most! Here is a bit about how they are getting on:
Well there are the adults, Jon and Tina Sweet. They have got a son, Kevin with his girlfriend Shania. They're young adults! They have a kid called Zenie (girl).Shania is pregnant and started the sick-stage!
Jon and Tina also have another teen, Callum, who is a geek. Amazingly he has a girfriend called Ryania- they are happy together. And there are 2 children called Kyla and Billie (girls). They dress the same and are best friends as well as sisters. Then there is a toddler, Calvin. Calvin is SUCH a sweetie! And last, a baby called Marya.
So far, that is 5 kids, BUT: Tina is pregnant! Tina and Jon 'woohoo', or have sex, an awful lot! She is throwing up a lot, bless her.
Today, things between Kevin and Shania have changes. They are not very happy togethe; Shania loves Kevin a lot, but does not yet know Kevin is cheating on her with a lady called Phillipa Read. Phillipa comes round a lot, but never is in the same room as Shania. Her and Kevin have had 'woohoo' countless times, and Kevin loves Phillipa more than Shania. Phillipa is pregnant with Kevin's baby. Poor, poor Shania!
Jon and Tina love eachother, but Tina is dating a guy called Razza, but they're not that close, and have only had 'woohoo' once. They don't see eachother much. Besides, Razza has a wife named Pearl.
Oh, did I say i would tell you 'a bit' about my family? I meant 'a lot'!!

Hiya!
Phew. I've been simming a lot lately, and got REALLY bored of the Smythes. I created a new family, the Pullens, and they are SUCH hard work. The adults are called Allyce & Tom and they wanted a baby, so they tried for a baby but i didnt think she got pregnant. So I adopted a child, who was called Trevor, and then, a little later on, a toddler, called Nathen. Then, suddenly, Allyce threw up and got bigger! It was SO hard to keep her mood meters up! She would be all in green apart from one red, and then when you got that back up, something else would drop to red! Eventually, she gave birth to a healthy little girl called Isabella. Nathen is going to become a child soon, and he has yet to learn how to walk, talk, and be potty trained! Eeeep!
So, just an update lol.
Oh, and by the way, does anyone know how long it takes for newborns to grow into toddlers?

Anyway, I shall go on to talk about my sim family.
I started off with Alyson, the adult, the teenage twins Aliveya and Jayne, and the child, Katy. They moved into a small house in Pleasantview and lived quite happily for awhile. Then, Katy missed a day of school, and the social worker took her away! After getting over the grief of Alyson, Darren Dreamer came over. Alyson asked him to move in, and he did, with his son Dirk. Neither Alyson or Darren have jobs, but they get by quite comfortably. Dirk, Aliveya, and Jayne are all A+ students, and Aliveya and Jayne are both nearly adults. Then, Alyson and Darren found out that Alyson was pregnant! She gave birth to a healthy baby boy called Jackson, or Jack, who is still a newborn.

I'm so bored, so i'm going to give you a family update, no pics i'm afraid but I have some to upload laters.
Anyway, My favourite sim, Grace Alvi, so she lived in her one bedroom house, popularity aspiration, she didnt work as she was a millionare, always had the best partys, loooads of friends, 6 best friends. Then she met Amin at a party, they hit it off straight away, soon he moved in, then they got engaged, then married at a really lavish ceramony with a huge after party. A few days later she started throwing up a lot, then found out she was pregnant, they had a little girl called Mahtob, she was a really difficult child and they both had a hard time rearing her, especially since Grace still wanted to have partys and hang out with her friends, she really wasnt ready. Soon her and Amin grew distant, slept in separate beds and were always tired and moody. Soon Amin started having an affiar with Ivy, one day Grace walked in on them having woohoo. She broke up with him then and there and had a huge fight with both him and Ivy, Mahtob was a kid then and saw the whole thing. So he and Ivy got a place together, got married, had another kid, Mahtob is still a apart of his life but him and Grace never speak. So Grace is older now, still has lots of best friends, Mahtob is a teen, they are best friends and love each other dearly. Mahtob doesnt speak to her dad much anymore, he is too busy with his son Amin jr. Mahtob grew up to be really pretty, has loads of friends but hates school and is a D+ student, she is going steady with this guy George, who she met when shopping with her best friend Kaiylnn. They are very much in love, she has been in trouble with the police 3 times for sneaking out. But life is sweet for both of them, both happy, Grace becomes an elder in 3 days so Mahtob is planning a big party for her.

I've been playing with them for SO long, well I had Juliia as most of you know (if not scroll down) she was a baby very loved and grew up grew up and grew up some more and is now a teenager! She does have a boyfriend Keith! Juliia and Keith <3 they are madly in love and SUCH a cute couple XX! Then Nick wanted another baby out comes...Noah! Nick Jessica Noah Juliia <3 Yay! So Noah and Juliia are BOTH teens and Juliia is in private school very talented and soooooooo cute <3 excpet she is getting achney (squirts achney cream) and so is Noah is is very popular and now Jessica and Nick are 'elderly' ugh, but they still want more children :( ah, crazy! so thats an update

He's now a teen (as seen throwing his sister in the air at the top). Rachel and Greg wanted another baby, so they had Hannah (now a toddler). Until they moved to the third house, then they got another baby called Suzanne. After Suzanne born, they let her sleep and did it again(you know, that "thing")! So after couples of minutes, the mother pregnant again. They got a twin boy, then after they born, in about 3 days ago, she was pregnant again! I've had the game for a month now, and if wont work. It says 'Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. This application will now terminate.' Argh this is so so annoying, how on earth do you evict sims from a house?! I cant find how to do it anywhere, theres a button ( Move lot to lots bin) but that just moves them in their house, then wont let me take the family out. And I tried using the "find own place" in the newspaper, but it wouldnt let me move all of them, it just said "you are trying to move the whole family, you can move them on the neighbourhood screen" But I cant find it, AAHH!

Yay!!! I could play it now!!! :)!!! Thank you Janet! You really help!!! What I mean is The Sims 2 of course, what else to talk about here, right? Oh my god, I'm just soo happy!!! I have made a family called The Ricko, my favouritest family ever and only too!!! They live at the Hills Of Lavenders in the Harmony Sunset Lake!!! They are all three of them! First are the father/husband named James, next are the mother/wife named Caramella, and the last one is their girl named Gabriella or I shall call her Gabby!!! Gabby was not from the pregnancy but really has the part of her parents! She has her mother's eyes and her father's hair colour!!! She was such a cutie pie but of course all toddlers are!!! I wanted to show their pictures but when I'm trying to open it to check it out if everything was fine, then the computer says that it has no idea what type of file was it and I couldn't open it to see the pictures! If anyone knows how to make it open like you all have open yours and send it here, then please tell me please!!! And also, I have some few questions and here they are:
1.Did anyone have anyways how to make the womans to be pregnant quickly? Or maybe just how please?!
2.Is it possible to make them grow faster?
3.Is there are any places else to go except for work and stay in the house?

My family is the Innes-Jones, Started off with Tom & Leah and they had aspirations for a family so we had a baby girl called Daisy and she grew up dead bright and got accepted to Private School, she's now a teen.
I will show pics later, they live in Veronaville and you know the row of tudor looking houses and we live in the end one :)
I tried building my Bostonian Townhouse but failed miserably it now looks like a big long house ah well. How do we put lofts in? I'm a bit confused with that one.
With reference to Adoption, has anyone tried this? Do you get a baby or do you get to choose what age you want?

You guys know how I had Melissa and Jake, the cutest couple ever! Well they both died today -prays- their little boy just became a baby kind of toddler and it was his first birthday then..Melissa got pregnant again and this time I couldnt keep up with her..so..I couldnt keep up with the little boy Jake or Melissa Melissa was on the floor sleeping so was Jake..the little boy was crawling around the house and then it happened the grim reeper came and took Melissa and Jake left the boy all alone I saved the game (dumb me) and now he is all alone I want to have a family adopt him or something, any suggestions? - Hmmm, all I can say is that you need cd number 1. Put it in, then click the sims 2 icon. If it still doesn't work, then maybe try reinstalling? I have been playing in almost all my spare time since I got the game! My favorite family is hilarious.
I made this guy and his toddler. The guy, Tyler had a family aspiration so i had to get him a wife.... or husband.
Every woman i intoruduced him to, he'd either insult or they would just not get along... then he brought a guy home from work. they quickly fell in love!
Meanwhile the toddler became a child, then a teen, and he has a knowledge aspiration. It's quite funny how he constantly loves to gain logic points!
The new guy has a romance aspiration, wants to woohoo with 3 sims all the time!
And now they have a toddler, Isaac... and he's a cutie!!!

Yay my daddy bought me sims 2 and mailed it to my college so i should get it tommorow. *dances around* my sister is playing it and says how funu it is i cant WAIT. Im gunna have the really dysfunctional sims family lol.

Sims 2 is totally amusing. I lurve it. :) Except, the only couple I've made so far, they're kind of... dirty. :P
Like, they have life goals to 'Woohoo' with three other sims even though they're -married- to each other...
One of them is best friends with the paper boy. One time, this paper boy, I think his name is Derek... He stole our garden gnome. I guess he felt bad, though, and brought it back, since it was back on the lawn in a different place than where I put it... :D
I also used the 'motherlode' cheat lots and lots. --;

I fianlly got around to making a collage of my favorite family, the Harkens.
There are 4 all together. Linda and Joe (the parents), Melissa (teenager), and McKenzie (now child). The baby and toddler in the collage are McKenzie when she was younger. :D

I got the sims 2 it isnt as good as I thought it would be matter a fact, I dont really like it much..its confusing and laggy and when I was starting to get intrested it blew up (not really) it just started going all over the place everything blah blah..but my people (Melissa and Jake) are becoming real close but how come for their first kiss they didnt get hearts or anything? Still cant get the grocerys and..well Im not that intrested in it maybe later..

My baby got kidnapped! I made a new family, with a mom, a dad, and a teenage daughter. They got pregnant, and a baby boy was born. The mom fed him, put him to bed, and then she and her husband went to sleep. The teenager was already in bed. (It was late.) I forgot that there were 2 visitors over, and in the morning, the baby was GONE! He wasn't in the crib, or anywhere on the floor. And his picture on the left was gone, too. It was like he never exsisted, it was weird. At first, I thought it was a bug or something. Then I remembered reading a thread on the sims 2 website message boards about kidnapping. They were discussing whether or not it could happen. So I posted on there, and someone else said that the same thing had happened to them. I tried calling the police, but they just lectured me for calling them without an emergency. So I just reloaded the game without saving. They had the baby again, but this time it was a girl. I have pictures, and I'll post them when I get a chance. Has this happened to anyone? It's quite odd, because it said nothing about it in the strategy guide or anything. Maybe it's one of those "surprises" Maxis talked about, although not a very nice one! lol. Anyways, be careful with your kids when visitors are over. :o)

GAH. okay, i bought sims 2 yesterday after making my mom take me to k-mart, the mall, and finally wal-mart. (no other place had any copies! lol) and i kind of expected it not to work, but i installed it. (YAY! thats where i usually have trouble) and um.. I installed DirectX 9.0c before I installed the sims 2, but why wont it work? Heres the message:
'Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. The application will now terminate.'
Then I hit ok(the only option) and it closes. Is it because of my videocard, or did DirectX 9.0c not install correctly, or am i totally confused? Any help would be apprecieated.
