Subject: I have a love/hate relationship with tax
In reply to: Cars 's message, "yeah, tax sucks" on 00:27:29 05/31/06 Wed

It sucks that we have to pay so much money to the government. And it is totally unfair that the more you earn, the more you have to pay. I mean you have to work just as hard or even harder to get to where you are and you get punished for having a great job and coughing out that much tax. Australia is the highest tax paying nation in the world but we have also had a few good thing...

roads-(although some roads are shcoking, we have pretty good roads compared to a lot of places around the world)
schools-(even though a lot of schools are becoming prvatised)
centrelink-(I hate dole bluggers but they do help students with youth allowance)
transport
buildings
police
law n order (but prisons take up a lot of money)
army/defence
aids
hospitals/medicare (I am grateful for bulk billing at the moment)
politics (damn politicians wasting our money on travelling to pretty places)

Okay these are a few things that have popped into my head. I mean we pay the tax and we gain quite a few benefits. But the main question is that does the benefits outweigh the costs???

Okay it is really a bad idea for me to start talking about politics. Once I start it takes me a while to stop :P
