You'e not going crazy, the cute little fluffballs were ducks, but I also saw a baby plover the other day. Couldn't get a photo of it though. It was even tinier than the little ducklings! Awww! Plovers are birds about the size of a magpie but with longish legs, white bellies, light grey wings/back, and bright yellow around their heads. They kind of screech too. You'd probably know one if you saw it - especially if you heard it. They're possible the loudest bloody birds on the planet!
