Read this article about Darwin High School Road Works on Wednesday (1st Nov), and was like 'er, what the?' So I went down there and had a look myself...
They've completely taken over the soccer oval, and are extended some of the roads Around the school to 'increase accessability' or something stupid like that. Former students, current students, and parents were 'in an outrage' (they're always in an outrage when the paper talks to them...maybe reporters jibe them into anger then start quoting them? hehehe) about it, but Mr. Glasby, who is a head honcho in the Dept. of Education these days, said the plans had been up at the school for weeks, or at least a couple of months. Apprently the plans will cut both existing ovals in either half or into only a 3/4 of an oval, plus, you know, an increase in traffic...
Of course I think 'Duh, what kid cares about road work plans, can understand road work plans, and knows what to do to protest Against road work plans? jeez..' Aanyway, moving along...
And finally, a couple of photos of the 'refurbishment' of the Darwin Entertainment Centre, formerly the Darwin Beaufort, then the Carlton (or something..), and now Holiday Inn. It's really annoying for trying to get to shows at night.
