How is an essay "poor?"
He better explain that one! I mean, if it's well structured, has the points needed, and has a good context, then it can't be "poor"...
Emmy, I think you should re-look the marking criteria for the essay and bring it up with him...if that doesn't work, go to the "unjust" treatment place in your uni (do you have one of those?)

Whatever it takes, FIGHT ON!!!
