Date Posted: Monday, November 01, 10:04:35pm Hey Everybody!!! Last week's riddle proved especially hard, with only Theresa getting the right answer. RIDDLE: Think of words ending in "GRY". Angry and hungry are two of them. There are three words in the English language. What is the third word? You use it every day and if you've listened carefully, I've already told you what it is. In order to get the answer, you need to know what a "red herring" is. A "red herring" is a term used for something that throws you off the right track or takes your attention away. In this riddle, the red herring is the first two sentences. They make you think you're trying to find a word ending in "GRY", but you're not. The next sentence is the key to the riddle. "There are three words in THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE." Now if I ask you what the third word is, do you get it? ANSWER: Language. That is the third word in the phrase "THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE". I know, it was a tough one. Check out the new riddle for this week on the fun page!!!!! Kim [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
