First I'd like to say that I think people are still interested, but now they are afraid to say anything because a few people said that they might offend someone. I think that with topics like these it's impossible to not offend someone and you have to learn to deal with it like an adult, because after all, most of us will be adults soon with the ability to vote on subjects such as these. If you're going to vote you should at least know what your voting for or against and you should always know the otherside of the argument. With that said, I'll move on to the topic at hand.

I agree with most of what KC said. Marijuana possession and distribution being criminal is very much like prohibition. It's taking all control of the substance out of the government's hands and placing it into the hands of criminals. Criminals profit from it and the government and law enforcement agencies are losing money. If you decriminalize marijuana, tax it, and put the same restrictions on it as alcohol, you put it back into the control of the government. Drug cartels would loose a major source of their income.

The anti-drug ads you see that claim "If you buy or smoke marijuana you are putting money into terrorist hands" is just to scare you and appeal to your moral stance on terrorism. What people don't realize when they see this is that the only reason it's true is because the governments have made it a convenient and quick source of income for terrorists and criminals. It would also be beneficial to decriminalize it and make sentencing for selling without a license harsher.

I would also like to add that the belief that you have to smoke marijuana is absurd. It's just as absurd as the idea that if abortion is legal, every women will get an abortion. The truth is, you won't really see a huge rise in the number of people who use marijuana. It may appear that way, but it'd only be because people could say it without repurcussions.

This is a subject I have taken alot of time familiarizing myself with and perhaps not for the obvious reasons. I truely believe that decriminalizing marijuana would be an economically sound decision. I've discussed it at length with my dad, and while my dad and I do disagee on quite a bit, this is something we agree on completely. I could go on forever but I'm going to stop here and if anyone has questions on my meaning or would like to point out something I've missed please feel free to ask me
about it.
