Former...Try this on for size...Try to see Ed and Carol as halfs of one individual..yea, they are already together. She being the in need of security..fearful part of life and he being the adventursome, as noted elsewhere, jump in the vat and stomp the grapes kind of a person..that makes up all of us. The struggle between these two halves of life , within the individual,,are what the show is ...maybe...about...aye?
