(She was quiet as she sat in the car beside him, watching as the city passed them by and thinking about nothing in particular. But as he spoke, she turned her head, glancing over at him with a soft smile. That expression faded to a sort of thoughtful one as she listened to him, her gaze shifting to her hands in her lap as she processed everything. She could tell he was nervous, he was trying to get it all out before she took it the wrong way.. he was lucky she could pick up on subtleties like that.. because she remained quiet until he was done and nodded a little. Her eyes moved over to him for a split momvent, catching his gaze and looking away.) I am not going to pretend that facing them makes me a little sick to my stomach.. I know they must think I am just this side of psychotic. (She caught his reflection in the window and then focused on the passing cars, needing to speak without thinking about how it would affect him.) I can't just waltz back into their lives and expect a welcome back party.. especially with Haylie and Braden.. I didn't make the best impression with them by turning my back on you. (She rarely talked about that week in bangkok.. it was second only to the actual assault as the worst day of her life. There were a long list of days in psyche that tied for third.) As far as being civilian.. I realize that and I am fine with that. I wouldn't have stayed in the agency once the baby was born anyways. (She looked down at her hands again, then over at him.) Being in your life means more to me than anything, Justin.. I will do whatever it takes to make things work with the others.. and I know it will take time. (She chewed her lip then, thoughtful as she looked out the front window. She wasn't the same person as before either.. she was definitely more mature now.)
