Lucas, for a change, was speechless after Sami’s reply to Victoria’s remark. Everything he felt was on his face and
required that not one word be spoken.

“Thank you, for everything, Carrie. Kurt and I had a wonderful time. Wait until I play poker with some of the blokes
in the embassy for dimes! Let’s see if I remember this, three of a kind beats two of a kind….what is it that beats
them…is if four of a kind or a full house?”

“Come on, Victoria, I’ll go over this with you in the car. Thanks for everything, Carrie…..Sami. I‘ll never forget this
day or any of you. You guys ready to go?”

“Yup, just one more kiss.”

Lucas put his good arm around Sami and gave her one last kiss.

“I love you, Sami.”

“I love you back, Lucas.”

Carrie kissed Mike lightly in front of everyone - her kiss in the hallway being on her mind at the time.

“I’ll see you Monday, Carrie.”

“I can’t wait…but I’ll have to.”

“Don’t forget we have a lunch date next Thursday, Carrie.’

“I’ve got it on my calendar, Victoria. Are you bringing this fella with you?”

“Yes, he follows me everywhere.”

“Hey, she follows ME everywhere. After all, I’m the ambassador.”

“I do let him believe he’s in charge……makes him more manageable. See you.”

They were soon pulling away in the car as Sami and Carrie waved from the window. Sami picked Guinevere up from
the floor and headed in to the kitchen to feed her. Carrie continued to stare out the window at the darkening sky as
night approached. Moments later a chill went through her…….one that had nothing to do with the temperature.
