God he was going to regret it. He couldn't stop himself. Why couldn't she see? Why didn't she know? How couldn't she tell? He couldn't stop. He slapped her, hard across the face. He nearly fell. What had he done? He stared at her inert form, hair thrown across from the momentum of his hand hitting her. He stared at his hand. His shaking hand. Slowly, he turned, his hand clenched into a fist, stuffed into his pocket along with the other one, and walked away. He didn't look back.
