Slightly disagree with oddschecker , not seeing it as one sided an event as he does , think this is one of the most open events of the entire year . Looking at the pairs i couldnt rule any team out , so its 4/1 jamo and cooky ; 6/1 kenny and shaun ; 8/1 all other teams

What a load of shit, Smithy knows every bunker and break on the greens at ciren. Home course advantage is like having 6 points before you even tee off against the feidl in my eyes.
Smithy to win comfortably.
Knighter, Delves or Skinner to be there or there abouts.

After swansea the general consensus is that 10 shots may just about see him through the front 9 and that being anialated on the longest drive by a 3 wood has crushed the once great mans confidence.

Can't really see past Wayne Thomas as this weeks winner, shot 35 points last year off 14, has 18 to play with this time around so must be highly fancied to do well on Saturday.

Congrats to Team 'Blue' a deserved victory. Special mentions to Gus and Knighter who I played against, both are much improved players and tough opponents. Looking forward to next year already although I'm gonna try and not eat as much because my belly is now wok-tastic. Well done Smithy for organising it all, JK's a big lemon but a jolly nice fella. And as usual well done Shaun Nick Keith and rest of commitee for keeping the society running so smoothly, I'll be back on a more regular basis next year so watch out!

- Cyder Cup - The Future -- Cyder Cup Legend, 13:53:20 07/07/10 Wed [1]
With the captaincy handing back to the original Cyder Cup Captains, Mr's Tout and Delves, planning for the future of the Cyder Cup is under way.
Moving forward, we are planning on adding some identity to each team by fixing the colours with which they are associated.
If you look at the Cyder Cup pages of the website, the theme running through them is that one team is blue and one red and ironically, these are the colours of the footy teams that the original captains support (touty = blue, nick = red).
Moving forward then, Cyder Cup colours will be blue, red and white. In 2011, team tout will wear white on one day and blue on the other, with team delves sporting white on one day and red on the other.
We can carry this forward on to thr trophy when it comes time to engrave it. At the moment, its not easy to understand which team has won year to year as the teams are known as "Team Surname". Going froward this will show, the Reds or the Blues with the winning captain alongside it.
Most people have probably to a red and a blue polo shirt, so no worries there.
Small changes to an already legendary event.
Roll on hat-trick year.

I think we missed a trick with the shirts and should have got them with our names on the back as well.
We could also look into getting embroidered caps?
I just think we were a little half hearted this time around and need to go all the way in 2011 if we are going to have any chance at all of stopping the hatrick.
I'll look into it and let everyone know what the cost will be, about £45 each should do it.

Fairplay to pricewise who tipped the first 6 in the betting last week, pound for pound bookmakership at its finest.
Respect to all Cyder Cuppers braving it at Thornbury this weekend, the least I would expect is that both Captains attend. Good to see Smithy is in the hat and not scared of shooting a good score.
A few out attending a wedding, line up as follows:
Skinner, K
Dominguez, P
Dominguez, T
Dunn
Thomas
Skinner, C
Evans, C
Knight
Smith
White
Tout, L
One more required to make it 12, hopefully Kinger will confirm tomorrow.
Better to be heading into the Cyder Cup playing well of a low handicap, than crap of a high handicap.
Enjoy.

Saturday just gone someone asked Smithy how the preparations were going and everything was perfect as expected. Pairs sorted, singles order in hand and everyone happy with the shirt colour selections for the two days.
Then kinger's name crept into the conversation and Smithy said something along the lines of,
'I saw Kinger in the week and asked him how it was going, he said yeh fine should be ready for it in 5/6 weeks time'
Has anyone told kinger it's in less than 2 weeks?

As always Gus is rightfully favourite again. Hes hit more balls this week than a prostitutes chin. However, after his poor perferomnace last week on a very easy course, leave him alone this week.
After a reaonable effort last week from our tip Jameson, he good go one better this time, so we'll stick with him for one more week.

- Winner -- Zurich Insider, 08:41:56 05/21/10 Fri [1]
Having correctly tipped Gus due to extensive practice the last 2 weeks, its still hard to see past him, given that he has been out practicing again at cotswold hills this week. Apparently hes hit more balls this week than Desmond Douglas did in his 24hr ping pong marathon during Telethon '88.
However with the course rumoured to have water in adbundance this weeks winner will need to be a straight golfer, not a gay one.
Tip: Jameson

Yes that is trully pathetic but fair play some time went into typing that out, well done.
I'm just pleased to get a win under my belt early in the season and join Smithy (my Cyder Cup Captain) in the CoC end of year event.
I wonder when team 'Kinger' will register a win on tour...(the chairman must be due a win what with spiralling handicap, what's he off now 24?) Cyder cup is a little while off but all the form this year is being shown by one team.

Nice win Love Walrus...this one's for you...
My first, my last, my everything,
And the answer to all my dreams.
You're my sun, my moon, my guiding star.
My kind of wonderful, that's what you are.
I know there's only, only one like you
There's no way they could have made two.
You're, you're all I'm living for
Your love I'll keep for evermore.
You're the first, my last, my everything.
In you I've found so many things,
A love so new, only you could bring.
Can't you see if you,
You'll make me feel this way,
You're like a first morning dew on a brand new day.
I see so many ways that I can love you,
'Till the day I die....
You're my reality, yet I'm lost in a dream.
You're my first, my last, my everything.
[instrumental]
I know there's only one, only one like you
There's no way they could have made two.
Girl, you're my reality.
But I'm lost in a dream,
You're the first, you're the last, my everything.

- Matchplay Championship -- Cyder Cup Legend, 13:01:38 05/05/10 Wed [1]
Several matchplay games to look out for this weekend:
Prelim Round
Mike Evans (8) V John King (19)
Mark Jameson (5) V Leon Tout (28)
Andy Cook (2) V Dave Knight (20)
Round 1
Shaun Tout (9) V John Gillet (24)
3/4 handicap remember.
Some interesting match ups. Evo likely to have to much for Kinger who's scatter gun tee shots will be no use at Bromsgrove. Jamme has a lot of shots to make up but should come through as does Cooky against Knighter - can Knighter hold his nerve if it goes up the last? Most in danger from the lower handicappers appears to be Touty, giving away 11 shots to Gilly - could be a tall order if the Swamp Donkey gets his irons going.
Where's your money?

Only 3 in it! Touty if he makes the 2 ft putts, kinger with his new (i can stand away from the ball)swing or reliable knighter who has used more range balls than the rest of the society.
Colm too wayward
Gus too fat
Smithy handicapped beyond his ability
Jamo has a chance if he plays his putter off the tee
Tony has a chance if Gus doesn't nag him too much
Charlsey and Dunny could blow everyone away if they turn up with their 'A' game

- John & The River Wye -- Cyder Cup Legend, 15:20:37 04/20/10 Tue [1]
You’d better sit down for this as you may fall over.
I rang John earlier to ask him for a favour, which he agreed to but could only do it next February after he finishes Paul Taylor’s front door.
Anyway he started cracking up and said he had something to tell me. No word of a lie, his opening line was “I fell in the River Wye”.
The story goes that John and Jo took the kids canoeing down the River Wye at the weekend. John had made a special effort with the food and had bought his favourite Cadburys chocolate fingers as they were 3 for 2 at Tesco.
With all the food in tupper ware containers ready for a riverside picnic after some canoeing, they set off for a fun afternoon.
John took a canoe with two of the lads and was in charge of steering which is where it started to go wrong. He steered the lads into some trees along the rivers edge and caused one of them to panic, turning the canoe over and sending the big nosed buffoon into the river! It doesn’t end there.
Don’t worry the kids were fine but John did say the next thing to happen was that the food containers began sailing down the river and some canoeing passers by began helping themselves to John’s sandwiches. It doesn’t end there.
Next John says he knows a riverside pub near Lydbrook and takes the gang there to dry off. John is first out of the canoe on to dry land and begins to strip off his soaking wet jeans and t’shirt not noticing the on looking coach load of female pensioners who began wolf whistling at him. One of them shouted across to him and pointed out he had his pants on inside out!!!! It doesn’t end there.
Down but not out and with smiles on there faces, the gang pulled together what food they had salvaged from the incident and headed back to the car starving but with smiles on their faces. Would you believe it, the chocolate fingers were still in tact and dry. “Lets eat them before we set off” said John, “good idea” said the lads before John started the car and reversed over them!
You can’t make stuff like that up.

- Gus - Burn Out -- Maslach Burnout Inventory, 11:19:46 03/29/10 Mon [1]
Burnout is a psychological term for the experience of long-term exhaustion and diminished interest. Research indicates general practitioners have the highest proportion of burnout cases (according to a recent Dutch study in Psychological Reports, no less than 40% of these experienced high levels of burnout).
The most well-studied measurement of burnout in the literature is the Maslach Burnout Inventory. Maslach and her colleague Jackson first identified the construct "burnout" in the 1970s, and developed a measure that weighs the effects of emotional exhaustion and reduced sense of personal accomplishment.[3] This indicator has become the standard tool for measuring burnout in research on the syndrome. The Maslach Burnout Inventory uses a three dimensional description of exhaustion, cynicism and inefficacy. Some researchers and practitioners have argued for an "exhaustion only" model that sees that symptom as the hallmark of burnout.
The Maslach Burnout Inventory recommends the current Order of Merit Champion reduce his golf workload and apply the "quality not quanity" approach to his golf schedule and his eating habits.

I have no idea what text you are refering to, putting is an art and it takes alot of practice to be good at it so I will try and find some time and do just that.

Roll roll up we've got a live one!
The OoM is a good achievement but cutting your handicap from 24 to 21 given the amount you play and spend on equipment is a poor show.
Just for the record, I seem to recall a text claiming your putting was fixed following "minor tinkering with ball position and grip"....Castle Combe awaits.

Yeah fine with me, got some other rather predictable names but helps to fill some gaps.
Welsh Open (either Dewstow, Alice Springs or Woodlake Park)
Oxford Masters - carswell
Worcestershire Open - either ombersley or bromsgrove
Tippy Tappy Classic - Costwold Hills :)
Almondsbury Open - Woodlands
Zurich Masters - Burghill Valley (basically my home course)

The 2010 fixture list has gone live (see fixtures page) but does anyone have any ideas on what we could name the events next year as opposed to the rather boring "Thornbury Open etc etc"...maybe a sponsors name like the Blue Sheep Open (Jamo & Touty), Zurich Open (Gus) etc.
Thoughts welcome.

Firstly hanks to everyone who came up to me on Sunday and congratulated me on winning this years Order of Merit.
Second, thanks to keith who pushed me all the way, played by far the better golf through the second half of the year and being part of (what was for me) the funniest 4 ball I've been in for quite some time. Thanks also to Nick 'spin mill' Delves and Dave 'woody' Knight.
Thanks Touty and fellow committee members for organising yet another quality tour.
Roll on 2010!
Touty, my feedback letter on this years tour will take a few weeks to put together but will email it through as soon as it's complete.

This course does not set up well for anyone short or loose off the tee so I'd have to rule out Delvsey straight away along with Evo (who doesnt hit it very far) and Colm.
Jamo will be ok as long a he sticks with the 3 wood!
I expect it to be a close fought Finale at castle Combe but im struggling to see past Dave knight as the eventual winner.

- Can't Putt, Won't Putt -- Mark Roe, 12:50:25 09/21/09 Mon [1]
The improvement in Mr Skinner's all round game has come at a price...putting. Formerly the Oliver Twist of our Society was a solid putter but the all round game was inconsistent. The reverese seems to have happened but if he can pull it together for the season finale, he's a sure bet.
I beleive the answer lies with the "two thumb" grips you can get, that keep the shoulds square at impact. Could be the best £16 he'll ever spend!
Can't look past, who is off 19 and must have computer hacked his way into the handicap software and added a few on. How can he be off 19 and won three times this year. Joke...just like the ref yesterday.
Looking forward to it.

Lets hope next years captain leads the way and sets a good example to his team by at least picking up half a point minimum! What a disgrace, this years captain got away with it, simple as that.
It's all down to the last 2 players that we retained, not won outright (which if you ask me leaves a sour taste) this years Brock Ryder Cup.
Lest just try and put this year behind us and look forward to rubbing Waynes nose in it next year.

- Ryder Cup,experience the key to victory for Brock. -- Society Member, 19:22:22 09/10/09 Thu [1]
I believe team jameson will need to call on the experienced Brock Ryder Cup players to help the rookies through the morning session and help build confidence for the afternoon singles.
There wil be some nervous golfers at Monmouth tomorrow and the 'Old Heads' will need to take the rookies under there wing if Brockworth Golf Society is to retain there trophy.
Captain Jameson has to get his pairings right in the morning to make sure they get off to a good start before the singles matches in the afternoon.
Will Jamo be the first Loosing Brockworth Ryder Cup Captain???

Admitedly we might have to ask lloydy to cut out the two footers, at least until the 19th !
For the record we never wanted you to play for them they basically said they were not going to play unless you did.
