Nothing official yet but the rumour is getting harder that Peter Jackson, the man behind the Lord of the Rings trilogy is planning a remake of The Blue Max.

A number of things are just some good indications, first of all we found this on the Marlborough air show 2003 :
"For the 2003 airshow we had nine full-size World War One replica aircraft taking part in the flying display and dogfight sequences. These include the syndicate owned Fokker Dr.1 Triplane built and operated by Stuart Tantrum, film maker Peter Jackson's Gnome rotary powered Sopwith Camel as well as his rare Pfalz D.III replica which was the star of the classic 1960's motion picture 'The Blue Max'. A Bristol F2b Fighter replica, and four other Fokker Dr.1. Triplanes flew."

So this is a clear reference to the fact that the man is interested. But there is secondly this :

A guy named John Garwood wrote a lengthy letter about the activities of the Aviation Historical Society of New Zealand- at the moment they're working on an F2b restoration,Nieuport 27reproduction, Avro504restoration, three Fokker D.VII reproductions and a Tiger Moth. The three Fokkers are being built for Peter Jackson"

Three Fokker DVII's ? Nobody's gone tell me the man is building them just for fun ! There has to be more behind this.

Anyone heard more on this story ?

Thanks and best from
