The magazine where the Regine-Ogie rumors was posted with fake conversations from other people. Maglipon is also the 2nd-in-command with HI magazine. It is believed that this suit by Barretto is really being pushed by the media publicist of the Song Bird because Maglipon wrote an article about the publicist and the way he does his work as a media publicist. - m.i.b. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Press release- We received the following statement from Star Magic of ABS-CBN and we're printing it hereunder: "This is to inform you that Ms. Claudine Barretto has filed a case against Ms. Jo-Ann Maglipon in Quezon City this morning (July 22, 2005). Here's Ms. Barretto's statement: "Responsible journalism requires a fair and objective reportage of events, even if the issues involve public figures like movie and TV personalities. "However, a few individuals believe that it is their God-given right to trample on a public figure's privacy at the expense of the latter's hard-earned reputation, with no other perceivable motive than to earn a living at the expense of another. "For the past several years, I have been a victim of unfair and irresponsible journalism in violation of my and my family's basic human rights. I may be a public personality, but I also deserve to be treated like a human being. "I now exercise my right to fight back, and in the proper forum. I have sued Ms. Jo-Ann Maglipon to compensate me for the pain and suffering she has caused me and my loved ones. I have also asked that she and the people she employs be forever restrained from being near me within a radius of two hundred fifty (250) meters, to ensure that she cannot cause further damage in the future. "The amount of damages that I am asking that the Court award me does not even come close to what I am really entitled, but I am more interested in settling a standard of conduct in consonance with responsible journalism, so that public personalities like myself would be able to preserve our dignity and the people's respect. "I know that I will not be alone in this struggle to assert the rights of TV and movie personalities.
