I watched the late telecast of PPS Grand Showdown last night. Araneta was packed with fans of the songbird and of course the finalists...from the screaming of the fans, i could tell aicelle and gerald got the most number of fans there...anyway, the opening number was not too impressive...the theme of the opening number was filipino. the contenders from the 1st season, the finalists and regine were all wearing filipino-inspired outfits...i don't know what to feel about the opening number...parang i felt funny lang that they got regine flying (in a harness) again while the rest of the performers were (literally) on stage singing...i don't know parang overused na lang siguro for me yung "flying."...the best part was the showdown of regine and jonalyn...it's so nice to hear regine sing the birit songs she used to sing before like "there's a winner in you" and "and i am telling you." the crowd was very appreciative of this number...anyway, gerald bagged the pps title...but i like aicelle better...last year, my bet was charmaine piamonte but when jonalyn won, i was convinced she deserved the title...i'm not so sure about being convinced this time...

well, have you watched the PPS last night, i did even if i
had already seen it live the day before. I just noticed a few changes
in the telecast one is the omission of the PPS grandfinalists final
number of Magsimula Ka. Well, let me tell you, they never showed it on
Tv for rosemarie of Usa did not appear in that prod number and we
suspct that she or her dad decided to just walk out for she did not
even make it to Top 4.

Let me tell you some details of the Live PPS grand showdown, i arrived
at the coliseum 3: 00 Pm there were a bunch of PALAs or HAKOTs
alongside of the coliseum lined up improperly.. It was a really hot
afternoon. People came by in groups so the line extended up to the
next building and there were still a lot on the other side of the
coliseum. So we waited for almost 2 and a half hours. Some people were
already arguing with the martials and guards for the latter were not
even preventing the late comers from inserting themselves in to the
original lanes. Well, at last we were let to pass around 5;30 PM. Then
to my surprise the gen add ticket holders were let to occupy the Upper
Box A section. And those who were late occupied UBB. All the while, i
thought i was going to be so far from the stage for Gma only
distributed gen Add tickets. Well i suppose that was their original
plan talaga to disregard the seat aasignments indicated in the tricket
in order to fill up first the lower areas. I was so glad. I was so
near the stage.

Then tess bomb entertined the audience for 3 hours and the show
started 9:PM. It was quite late na. And then audience were told not to
seat upon the cloth you have seen on Tv yesterday. The blue cloth used
in the intro number. The it started and the rest you were able to see
on TV. But i would like to appeal to GMA for the sound mixing they
havce done for the TV presentation was not so good to the ears. When
you listen to the songs live, you won't be able to hear it clearly for
the people continued hooting and applauding while regine was singing i
belive i can fly suspende din the air. T\And we were still blown away
totally,. She's damn so good. Then there were some errs on the script
already polishd when shown on Tv. And tey even grafted the videos on
the part of awarding of special prizes for if you were there live,
they let the generator warm up amidst the program for 20mmins,
otherwise, the electric source collapses. Well, regine and jonlayn
sang bautifully. And i expected the press to write nasty and malcious
feedbacks othose presnetations na nama. Regine sang Somewhere there's
a winner in you which a porition of it i heard from an interview back
in 1991 (which video i was able to watch from the library/probe
archives) I was so glad to hear it being sung live. Ang galing.,then
they rocked the coliseoum with And i'm telling you. Regine is so great
anmd so is jonalyn. Hay ang galking galing. Next time, i'll share with
some of the funny little things i have seen as soon as i set foot in
the coliseum last may 6.

Ciao, i still have a meeting with the group. I am in a hurry. I am 30
mins late already . Bye wiat for my next message. Hi to the rvml
member i was able to talk with last May 6 at the grandfinals PPS. More
of it next time. Wait for my next message ha baka tomorroe or the next
day. Dami ko ginaga wa,. Sige bye! Ciao! Bear with errs. Hanks thnka s
i'lls end a proofread version na lang if there's enogh time. Thanks thnkas

PS> In Abante tabloid, "regine pinaglaruanj si Jonlayn" morwe o fit
bujkas!!! napaka mean ng writer na iyon.

Big Dome with the “Pinoy Pop Superstar 2 Final Showdown

WE were at the Big Dome when the "Pinoy Pop Superstar 2 Final
Showdown" was held last Saturday night and it was packed with the
fans of the seven contenders. The affair was shown on Sunday night.
The opening was a stunning production number with several dancers in
colorful Muslim costumes and with host Regine Velasquez appearing
from above on a harness while singing "I Believe I Can Fly." With
her were the seven contenders of PPS 1 led by winner Jonalyn Viray
and the seven finalists of PPS 2.

The first round saw the seven newcomers dishing out their favorite
numbers. The two top crowd favorites were Gerald Santos, who
sang "Kahit Isang Saglit" and Aicelle Santos, who sang her favorite
Whitney Houston number, "All the Man That I Need." They would later
win two special awards worth P20,000 each. Aicelle won as Roadshow
Superstar for her winning performances in Cebu, Baguio, Iloilo,
Davao and in Manila, while Gerald won as Viewers' Favorite through
text votes. In the second round, the three Santoses among the
contestants were retained: Aicelle, Gerald and Harry, plus Denver
Regencia of Davao. But in the end, it's the pint-sized 14-year-old
Gerald who won as grand champion.

He got one million pesos in cash, a Futura Classic house and lot
from Filinvest, a brand new Chevrolet Optra, a one-year management
contract with GMA Network, a recording contract with GMA Records,
P300,000 worth of services from Vicky Belo, one-year free beauty
services and P50,000 cash from Ricky Reyes, P100,000 worth of
clothes from Edwin Tan and Pepsi Herrera. The judges were composer
Danny Tan, soul diva Jaya, Director Floy Quintos, and GMA executives
Wilma Galvante and Felipe Yalong.
