Its that time again- The Aliw Awards is Tonight
Aliw Awards finalists bared

Its that time of year again, Regine fans.. when the Aliw
( not Awit ) Awards happens and we all remember the things
that happened with the Aliw Awards that concern our Song Bird.
I won't go into long details but everyone expected Regine to
win the "Entertainer of the Year Award" but it was GIVEN AWAY
instead to her known clone at the time- Lani Misalucha. The
Philippines Nightingale. That was according to a Regine fan
present at the show and was near some of Regine's campers.
And they weren't too happy either. But Jim Ayson of PhilMusic
mentioned that the judges were all top rate straight people.
So maybe Lani actually won ligitly that night. Except for
one big glaring tidbit and it was that one of Lani's handlers
was directly working with the show,for the show,in the show,
and so all the results for awards could've been compromise.
It looked like Regine's ex-manager used his position with
the Aliw Awards to take the opportunity to show Regine he
had a serious personal problem about her going on her own
and managing her own career.
Its hard to believe they undermine something like the Aliw
Awards and its legacy .. its entire award giving credibility
its future .. his showbiz future ( if it gets exposed )just
to make that kind of personal statement to Regine Velasquez.
Hard to believe it may have been Regine's respectable ex-
manager who was actually involve and not the usual suspect
twisted publicist Boy Abunda. But I wouldn't put it pass
that he wasn't involve somewhat as well. Because he would
have exposed what happened, wouldn't he? Nothing from him..
Ok. I did go into a few details. Excuse me. But this was
just a report of what happened in the past. Not meant to
be taken as anything else but part of Regine and her fans
music story we seen and experienced together. Regine fans
should always remember ours and the song bird's history.

The Aliw Awards Foundation Inc., the pioneer and only awards giving
body that gives recognition to live performers onstage and on the
concert scene, reveals the finalists for the 19th Annual Aliw
Awards, which will be held on August 31 at the Manila Hotel’s Fiesta
Pavilion.
The coming awards ceremonies will commemorate the foundation’s 30th
year anniversary having been founded by Alice H. Reyes in 1976, with
succeeding presidents Leo Baluyut, Beth S. Tagle, Charo Yu and
current president Gloria Wilma "Babes" Encarnacion.
There are 28 categories for the 19th Annual Aliw Awards from which
one winner will emerge as recipient of top plum—the Entertainer of
the Year award, a title held by Gary Valenciano. Since Valenciano
has obtained the mentioned award three times, he will be elevated to
the Hall of Fame on Thursday. The only other three-time Entertainer
of the Year is Martin Nievera.
Recognition will also be conferred on the singer-actress Sharon
Cuneta, stage director Tony Espejo, the world-renowned Madrigal
Singers, the famous Dance Company, and the Spirit of ’67.
The Awards night will be hosted by the singer-actress Vina Morales,
young star Heart Evangelista and TV host Derek Ramsey with veteran
director Al Quinn at the helm.

ALIW TIDBITS -
The advertisement for the award show poster in the newspaper
looked very professional and well done. Very nice.. This year
GARY VALENCIANO will be standing out. Kuh Ledesma is said to
be a guest performer.
This should be interesting to watch for -
Let's see if Boy Abunda's artist ERIK SANTOS wins something
or if Jed Madela, Kyla or Faith Cuneta or any other artists
being handled by Abunda and Reg's ex-handlers. But it is
not known if the same people as before are involve with
the show this year.

Other categories are Best Performance in a Concert-Group (with
nominees Bamboo, Cueshé, Hale, Orange & Lemons, Parokya ni Edgar and
Rivermaya); Best Performance in a Concert – Male (with nominees
Christian Bautista, Erik Santos, Jed Madela, Mark Bautista, Martin
Nievera); and Best Performance in a Concert – Female (with nominees
Faith Cuneta, Kitchie Nadal, Kyla, Kuh Ledesma and Nina).
