Ogie not affected by intrigues linking him to Regine

MANILA—Ogie Alcasid just returned from visiting his wife Michelle and two daughters in Sydney, Australia. His daughter Leila, who’s in grade 3, joined a musical show in her school, the St. Paul’s Catholic School, so he went there to do the minus one for her. "I only stayed there for five days to watch her perform and I’m so proud that she’s turning out to be a good singer," he says. "May pinagmanahan."
We thought his family would be coming over this year for a vacation? "Next year na lang kasi I’m turning 40 years old in 2007 and I want them to be with me as I celebrate my 20th year in showbiz. Ako naman, sanay ng pabalik-balik doon dahil seven hours lang ang trip."
Ogie has three regular shows: "Bubble Gang," "SOP" and "Ay Robot." His businesses are also thriving. His hotdog stalls now have nine branches all over Manila and his Bubble Gang Toppings (with his Bubble Gang co-stars as his associates) is celebrating its first anniversary and they want to put up another outlet. It’s in this restaurant that he discovered the band called Mom’s Cake who he’d launch in a recording company that he’s putting up with Regine Velasquez as his associate.
Isn’t he afraid that this will only fan the rumors linking him to Regine? Recently, a blind item obviously referring to them as being sweet while doing shows abroad appeared in some gossip columns.
"Ang dami ngang nagtatanong sa’min, kayo ba ‘to?" he shrugs. "What can I do? Kahit dine-deny namin, sige pa rin sila. Si Rico Puno nga, harap-harapan kami kung biruin sa shows namin sa Amerika. People ask kundi ako napipikon. But I’ve learned to accept na it’s part of the territory. I’m just glad my wife Michelle is an extraordinary woman who trusts me."
On his actual birthday on Aug. 27, Ogie will be in London to do his "Forever After" concert with Regine Velasquez and Ai Ai de las Alas at the Wembley Arena. "Gusto raw manood ni Prince Charles at ni Prince William ng show namin, pero sold-out na," he jokes.
Ogie’s also busy promoting his new single, "Di Ko Na Kayang Masaktan Pa," from his album, Lumilipad. This is a duet with Regine and they really look so romantic in its music video. (MNS)
