Casting : Hanks and Roberts Together!

In a true superstar pairing, Julia Roberts is in talks to co-star with Tom Hanks in Universal's "Charlie Wilson's War." Variety reports the picture would also allow Roberts to team up again with director Mike Nichols after the two worked together on 2004's "Closer." Roberts hasn't appeared on screen since she ended that year with "Ocean's Twelve," instead taking the time off to deliver twins. Hanks would topline "War" playing Charlie Wilson, a real-life Texas congressman who oversaw the covert funding of Afghan rebels in their battle with the Soviet Army. Roberts would play Joanne Herring, a big-haired Texas socialite who convinced Wilson to support the rebels' cause. The movie is based on the book by "60 Minutes" producer George Crile and features a script by acclaimed TV writer Aaron Sorkin ("The West Wing"). Production on the drama is expected to begin later this year, but there is no guarantee that both Roberts and Nichols will be involved as neither has even begun contract negotiations yet. Keep your fingers crossed on this one.
