It's a kind of parody, absolutely hilarious little panto, one of my most favourite Marc's talkie bits ('tis strange how he always says that speaking up makes him nervous, 'cos he always does these spoken bits absolutely charmingly - be it puntos or impromtu stage rants. The boy is inborn comedian). He's a bit awkward in the first scene (as Twiddledee), but then he lets himself go and performs wonderfully. My fav bit is when he introduces himself as Mad Hatter, and John Walker 'naively' asks "Weren't you in the previous scene as Twiddle Dee, Mr Almond?", and our little kitten starts to hiss at him. Lovely! :-). I also adore the bit when he coughs clearing his throat and bursts into some olde standard (in really low voice; his baritonal notes sound divine, he should re-qualify himself into full-time baritone). Or the one when Marc 'hosts' a quiz show with Queen of Wonderland and Janice'n'John.
John Peel's (I think it was him) tongue-in-cheek comments are also hilarious:
(for the ball Marc has changed Janice and John into identical women's outfits "that were popular during this year's Alternative Miss World")
'So Janice and John changed into their new clothes and said good-bye to the friendly unisex outfitters'.
(Long and Walker all together, in exaggeratedly enthusiastic tone): "GOOD BYE, FRIENDLY UNISEX OUTFITTERS!"
"Good bye, Janice and John!"
================
And this is a good opportunity to once again thank my wonderful friend (you know who you are sweetest darling! ;-) for sending the copy of the tape. It's pure delight.
