hey Chad,Welcome to the Site.
as for the rpm?, put a dimer switch on it, and you can adjust the speed to fit you. some one else here put that out. and I did it, and let me tell ya, ITS THE WAY TO Go.

I use what they call fishermans borax here on every thing.its a fine powder so I would say it is choise of what you prefer no big diff. Jim
