Subject: trying to get them smooth
In reply to: Jim 's message, "thats the bigest thing" on 01:53:53 11/27/04 Sat

I usually do have my father look at them. He's a wood carver, and even at 70, he still has a fine eye for detail. If they look real to him, I use them. The problem is, I can make good rocks that have a rough to semi-rough texture, it's the smooth ones that are killing me. my next try is molding a real rock with mother mold latex, and dying some fiberglass resin in blacks, browns, red's ect... I have seen some this way, hope mine look good too. By the way, who started this web site?? I like it better than Taxidermy.net Don't get me wrong there is a lot to learn there, but if you put something up there that someone doesn't agree with, your in for it. I LOVE constructive critisim, it makes us better, but some people there lay into too often.
