Thanks for the invitation to be a part of this forum. My name is David and I am originally from Conroe, Texas. I moved to North Carolina in 1986 to live and work in a major commercial operation (I will leave out names due to the forum rules and regs) where I fine tuned my tanning skills for 17 years. I don't do taxidermy work, however, since I tan for the taxidermists, I find it intensely interesting to follow the industry and try to keep abreast of what taxidermists are doing.
My specialty is washable sheep skins and my business is taking form as we speak. I bought the business from a guy in Maine who also tanned sheep and taxidermy hides. I tan using gluteraldehyde and I also use an alum type tan.
I am the first to admit that I don't know everything about tanning, but I do know something about it. I hope I can help with questions, otherwise I will probably just check in from time to time and see what is going on around here.
