Subject: rules

I say keep the rules "generally" the same except:

88mm for air/water intercoolers.
91mm for air/air intercoolers.

I would allow alloy blocks for the sake of making it easier to reach the min weights(N/A, NOS) and another reason is because the ford 4.6/5.4 mod motor came in a oem alloy form, and possibly a couple others(maybe someone else can fill me in).

Give the NOS small block guys whatever they want.

But-Just remmember though that there is complaining about turbo this and turbo that. If I am not mistaking the black small block NOS Mustang has gone quicker in the last 2 meetings than Billy Smith has gone with a turbo. Which in my eye's doesn't look like the NOS camp is that disadvantaged. If one or two NOS cars can run the numbers I would think the possibility of others is just around the corner.

Getting rid of EFI doesn't make much sense as this is not Nostalgia Ez Street. Maybe give a 50lb weight break for blow-through turbo set-ups, once again keep in mind a mechanical injection blow-through is capable of running the same numbers.

Radials: Take a vote of all the racers that ran ez street in 2004 and all the ez racers who will be racing in 2005. Select 3 different size radials that are readily available to the public and VOTE, majority wins! If everyone is on the same radial, that will atleast eliminate one factor to complain about.

Suspension: This is a subject that in my mind will never to straight forward, and you will never make everyone happy in this area, thats all there is too it.. Stock Suspension! But how far can you go with beefing it up. Bolt-ons, How fast/quick can you go and still be safe with just bolting ons!

No matter how far you want to call this an entry level class it is still heads-up Outlaw racing.

My thoughts on this would be the usual weights for real bolt on aftermarket suspension upgrades.

But, If anyone out there wants to use the factory bolt in LOCATIONS but beef it up with thicker gauge steel, let them with a 50lb weight penalty.

Small block NOS 'around' 1300 hp. I would rather have that thing beefed up just for the safety aspect of it, or even a sb turbo 1900 hp @ 3400lbs. I can only imagine the stress/strain on that suspension even if it is on a radial.

Now for something that is not really brought up much but the ford modular motors. They have been in mustangs since what '97-'98 so its only time before they start emerging. There are a few out there racing and a few on the way. I say there should be acouple of rule exceptions for these engines. If you have a 281-283 4.6 with a turbo , your suppose to weight 3300-3400. If you have a 440 cube windsor with a turbo you weight 3300-3400.
If you work on lets say 4.5 hp per cube(just an example) thats about a 700 horsepower difference.

Ford Mod Motor: Sheetmetal intake allowed(theres not that many aftermarket intakes out there for them).
50lb-100lb weight break. Some organizations give mod motors 200-300lb weight break(EX: NMRA), so 50-100lbs doesn't sound that unrealistic.

body panels: limit light weight components to to hood and trunk. No lexan windows at all.

Hopefully I havn't taken up the whole page. If you have anything constructive to add to this please do.
AT the end of the day we can't make a million rules nit- picking everything cause we all know that it would be too hard to police. As I said earlier this is entry level Heads-up Outlaw racing after all, so the fastest car doesn't always win. Lets try to keep this a 5.20 - 5.60 class.
