Subject: College or Pageants?
In reply to: 's message, "QUESTION OF THE WEEK - I have 2 daughters, one is 20 and the other is 9. My mother is upset with me because I refuse to help my daughter with college expenses. I work but I have no bills other than my car payment, therefore, I feel my money should go for what I want it to go for, in this case it is pageants. My parents did pay for all my college expenses, but I want to do pageants. Is this wrong?" on 20:37:18 11/21/05 Mon

Is that really even a question you should have to ask yourself? If you have to ask someone that kind of question then I think that all you are looking for is validation that it is right. When you know in your heart that you are denying your older dd a privilge that you are able to give her. I know pageants are fun for your 9 yr old but your 20 yr old needs an education so that she can rely on herself and not you as she gets older. Maybe you guys can work out a plan in which she could work and help pay for part of her expenses while she is in school. And you can cut down on some of your other dd's pageants to help out as well. Hope you work something out though b/c nothing is more important than education!
