Anyone else notice that Sluggy Freelance's recurring female characters tend to be so complex and three-dimensional that you care about them, and, with few exceptions, tragic? Gwynn. Valerie. Lysinda. Oasis. Flaky. The Aylee clone. Even Kusari and maybe Dr. Lorna. Beth, the ghost. Even Mosp, the snake-bodied demon woman from the Dimension of Pain--she cannot speak, but has a mind and will of her own, and, in the end, chooses to do the human thing, though it will cost her horribly when she returns to the DoP. There are others, too, but I can't remember all the names right now.
